Welcome Parents and Students,

I hope everyone had a wonderful and restful summer vacation!  I have met some of you already during registration and others I have had the pleasure of teaching you during your 6th grade year.  For those of you who I have not met, I would like to introduce myself to you.  My name is Ms. Alexis Robinson, and I will be teaching 7th and 8th grade math this year. This will be my third year as a math teacher here at Waynesboro Middle School. The last few years I have taught 6th grade math.  I received my Bachelor’s degree from the University of Southern Mississippi in Elementary Education with an endorsement in mathematics, and I am currently working on my Master’s degree at the University of West Alabama in School Counseling. I would like to extend an official welcome to each family represented in our class. I am very excited to have the opportunity to influence your child this year. To make the year a successful one, I hope that each of us (parents, teacher, and student) can work together as a team. You are always encouraged to share in your child’s education. The following information will help answer some of the questions you may have at this time.

Homework is important because it allows the student to reinforce the information that was learned in class. Students are expected to complete their homework nightly. There will not be any homework assignments given on Fridays or the day before a test. Students should not spend more than 30 minutes completing their homework assignment unless it is a project of some kind. Homework assignments will be graded.

The following items will determine your child’s grades:

 · Tests and quizzes

 · Projects

 · Homework

 · Classwork and prebells

I enjoy helping students learn and think about new ideas that connect to the real world. My deepest passion for teaching is genuinely building relationships with students, unfolding their talents, creating their successes, and watching them blossom into great, productive citizens. I look forward to working with you and your child this year. Please feel free to contact me with any questions/concerns which may develop. I can be contacted by e-mail at or by phone at 601-735-3159. Thank you!
