I have twenty-three years teaching experience and two years administrative experience.  I have taught reading, social studies, math, and science in grades three through six. My students are extremely important to me; I strive to instill in them a positive learning attitude, and provide a classroom where learning is fun and relevant.   

I value education and know that it opens doors of opportunity!!

                                         Third Grade Weekly Letter

           March 16, 2015


Reading: “Good-bye, 382 Shin Dang Dong” (see Family Times Sheet)

~Vocabulary:  airport, curious, delicious, described, farewell, homesick, memories, raindrops, cellar

~Skill:  Sequence of events is the order in which the events of a story or article happen.  Some clue words are first, next, then, and finally.

            ~Test:  Friday, March 20


Spelling:  Vowel Patterns au, augh, ou, ough.  See Family Times Sheet for words to study.

Language/Conventions:  Adverbs (words that tell how, when or where something happens).  See Family Times Sheet for more details.

Math: We will be working on Topic 14 “Area”

            ~Topic 14 Lesson 1-5 Test:  Wednesday, March 18

            ~Test on 0’s-11’s – Friday, March 20


Science/Social Studies:  Your child has notes on Ch. 8 “Forces and Simple Machines”.   The notes will look a little different.  We will fill out a sheet in the classroom, and your child will use this to study. Your child will not have a review sheet this week.  We will do several sheets in class so encourage your child to pay attention.

            ~Test:  Friday, February 27


Mrs. Busby and Mrs. Smith’s classes are scheduled to take the PARCC Assessment on Wednesday, March 18.  Mrs. Busby, Mrs. Newsome, and Mrs. Smith’s classes are scheduled to take the PARCC Assessment on Monday, March 23 and Tuesday, March 24.  Please make sure your child gets a good nights sleep, eats breakfast, is at school on time, and encourage him/her to do his/her best.


$3.00(cash only) for the ceramic Easter egg is due tomorrow.


Please make sure your child is at school every day.  If he/she is absent he/she must make up all work that he/she misses.
