Welcome to the homepage of Penny Manning. I am currently in my 10th (gasp...has time really gone by that quickly?) year of teaching in Wayne County, and each day I am thankful I became a part of the educational community. I am a graduate of Lousiana Tech University where I earned a bachelor of arts degree in speech communications and journalism. For almost a decade, I worked as a reporter/editor for The Wayne County News. I am married to Gary Manning, and when our son, Jake, began elementary school I became very involved with the Wayne County School District. Through this involvement I decided to pursue a "second career" as a teacher. Licensed to teach since 2007, I received a master's degree in the art of teaching from William Carey University in 2010. I am highly qualified by the Mississippi State Department of Education to teach English, Literature, Journalism, and Speech in grades seven through 12. Although I am primarily a 9th grade English I teacher, I am also currently teaching English IV to seniors, who, I have learned, have matured quite a bit since beginning their WCHS career in 9th grade! I also teach journalism classes and help with the school newspaper. I love learning, and I want to share that passion with my students!
