Hello, everyone, and welcome back to school! I hope you all had a wonderful summer. To begin the school year, I always like to start with a thrilling fiction piece called "The Monkey's Paw" by W. W. Jacobs. Students learn the parts of the plot and how to make predictions through foreshadowing while reading this suspenseful short story.
Once we finish this section, we will focus on writing for the next two weeks. This writing unit is based off of materials provided by MAP, Mississippi Assessment Program, which is the source of the English II state test. It is imperitave that students be in attendance and ready to learn during this writing workshop, for it is preparation for their year in English II, the state test, and future writiting courses.
We will continue our readings in the continuing weeks after the writing workshop. For a complete list of readings, please see the syllabus listed under this course, which was also provided to students the first day of school.
4 Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
