            2016-2017 Reading, Mrs. Pruitt

Dear Parents or Guardians,

Wow! Our summer vacation has quickly come to an end, and we are starting a new school year. I would like to welcome you back to the 2016-2017 school year! I am looking forward to teaching your child, and I hope your child will have a great year!. Thanks, in advance, for your help and encouragement as we begin the new year. I believe your child CAN and WILL be successful, and I have HIGH EXPECTATIONS for him/her this year! To ensure that your child has a comfortable and safe place in which to learn, rules and procedures MUST be followed each and every day. These rules and procedures will be explained in class, but please read over them so that you and your child will know what is expected of him/her!

Several things have changed from last year, and it is extremely important that you are aware of these changes. Please read the student handbook, as well as this letter to find out some of these changes.

  • Be prepared for class; enter the room quietly, go directly to your seat, and begin your Pre-bell  assignment.

  • REMAIN in your desk, unless you have permission to be up. (Throw away garbage on the way out of the room.)

  • I dismiss class- NOT the bell.

  • Silence is golden! There are other students in this class; therefore, raise your hand and wait until you are called on to speak.

  • Treat others like you want to be treated, which means be respectful! Do not do something to someone else that you would not want done to you!

  • TAKE care of all personal business before coming to class. Do go to the bathroom at break and between classes. Grooming should be done in the bathroom—not the classroom. (Brushes, combs, mirrors, perfumes, colognes, deodorants, lotions, and anything else that is interfering with my class time will be taken up.) ****Repeat offenders will not get their items back until the end of each nine weeks!

  • Students will NOT be allowed to charge phones in class.

  • See the attached letter about the cell phone policy.

  • Bathroom policy: Students should use the restroom at break or before entering class. The policy for emergencies will be discussed in class.

  • Headings of Papers: The heading will be written at the top of the right hand corner; do not go outside of the margins. Papers will NOT be accepted without the proper heading.                                                                                         Example: John Doe
