Monday

  • Students will complete an anticipation guide for the humorous essays “The Dog That Bit People” and “The Oldest Inhabitant.”
  • The teacher will review the learning goals (literary analysis skill and reading skill) and introduce the selection using Pearsonsuccessnet.com .
  • The student will complete vocabulary exercises.
  • The student will read the essays.
  • The teacher will lead the class in a whole group discussion of the essays using critical thinking questions.

 

Tuesday

  • The student will complete the after you read activity for the anticipation guide and discuss whether their views changed or not after reading the story.
  • The teacher will review the learning goals (literary analysis skill and reading skill) for the selection.
  • Students will complete the All-in-One workbook pages and the After You Read activities in the textbook.
  • The teacher will review the answers to the questions and activities to check for understanding.

 

Wednesday

  • The teacher will review the learning goals (literary analysis skill and reading skill) for the selection.
  • The student will complete the Open Book Test to prepare for Thursday’s test.
  • The teacher will review the answers/activities to check for understanding.

 

Thursday

  • The teacher will review the learning goals (literary analysis skill and reading skill) for the selection.
  • The student will complete the selection test and essay.

Friday

  • The student will complete the writing activity (letter to the editor).
