Scope of Work Week 17

Monday

  • Students will complete an anticipation guide for the reflective essay “The Sun Parlor.”
  • The teacher will review the learning goals (literary analysis skill and reading skill) and introduce the selection using Pearsonsuccessnet.com .
  • The student will complete vocabulary exercises.
  • The student will read the essay.
  • The teacher will lead the class in a whole group discussion of the essay using critical thinking questions.

Tuesday

  • The student will complete the after you read activity for the anticipation guide and discuss whether their views changed or not after reading the story.
  • The teacher will review the learning goals (literary analysis skill and reading skill) for the selection.
  • Students will complete the Critical Thinking Questions and the After You Read activities in the textbook.
  • The teacher will review the answers to the questions and activities to check for understanding.

Wednesday

  • The teacher will review the learning goals (literary analysis skill and reading skill) for the selection.
  • The student will complete the All-in-One workbook pages and the Open Book Test to prepare for Thursday’s test.
  • The teacher will review the answers/activities to check for understanding.

Thursday

  • The teacher will review the learning goals (literary analysis skill and reading skill) for the selection.
  • The student will complete the selection test and essay.

Friday

  • The student will complete the writing activity (creating a memoir).

Goals:

Our weekly objectives are as follows:

1) Improve Reading Skill
2) Engage in Literary Analysis
3) Develop Vocabulary
4) Students will cite evidence to support their predictions
5) Students will use writing strategies and proper grammar skills to generate ideas and to plan, organize, evaluate, and revise a short writing assignment. 

 

 
 

Results of the listed informal assessments will be used to develop plans to differentiate instruction in response to data and review the effectiveness of prior actions. These informal assessments serve as responses to previous data gathered from past assessments in the unit.

 

Results of the above formal assessment will be used to develop plans to differentiate instruction in response to data and review the effectiveness of prior actions. These formal assessments serve as a response to previous data gathered from past assessments in the unit.

 

Results of informal socratic questioning were used to scaffold student learning at the time in which the questions took place. Results will be used to develop more formal and informal assessments based on students’ individual needs. They serve as an immediate data source used to evaluate the effectiveness of prior teaching strategies and will also be used to develop future plans to differentiate instruction.

 

Cooperative Learning Group Projects cannot be made up, but alternate assessments are available for absent students. :) 

However, students may make up close-reads for homework.
