The idea of guidance, the heart of counseling, is to help an individual to understand himself and to develop a plan of action that will allow him to realize his possibilities and to maximize his potential. At Wayne County High School, the guidance program is operated through the individual teacher and through two full time guidance counselors at the high school. If at any time a student has a problem, he/she should contact the guidance counselor for aid. Parents should also feel free to contact their child's counselor to discuss academic problems, career or academic planning or to set up a conference with one or more of their child's teachers.
Academic assistance is available for students in danger of failing. This assistance is provided through the Teachers Support Team at each school.
