Week 2 January 13-17

Monday, January 13

·         The teacher will introduce “Occupation:  Conductorette” from I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou using Pearson Successnet.com and Literature books.

·         The student will complete activities associated with the story including the Anticipation Guide and Vocabulary/Reading Warm Up sheets.

·         The teacher will introduce Lesson 6 in the MS Test Prep Workbook and questions from Practice Test 3 from the MDE website in preparation for the Subject Area Test.

Tuesday, January 14

·         The teacher will continue modeling and instructing students on Foreshadowing, Plot , and Making Inferences through the excerpt “Occupation:  Conductorette” from I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou.

·         The student will complete selected pages in their All In One Workbooks.

·         The student will complete a quiz on Lessons 1 – 6 and questions from Practice Test 3 from the MDE website in preparation for the Subject Area Test.

 

Wednesday, January 15

·         The teacher will continue modeling and instructing students on Foreshadowing, Plot, and Making Inferences through the excerpt “Occupation:  Conductorette” from I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou.

·         The student will complete selected pages in their All In One Workbooks

·         The teacher will Introduce Lesson 7 and questions from Practice Test 3 from the MDE website in preparation for the Subject Area Test.

Thursday, January 16

·         The teacher will continue modeling and instructing students on Foreshadowing, Plot, and Making Inferences through the story excerpt “Occupation:  Conductorette” from I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou.

·         The teacher will Introduce a lesson and questions from Practice Test 3 from the MDE website in preparation for the Subject Area Test.

       The student will complete the Selection Test on excerpt “Occupation:  Conductorette” from I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou.

 

Friday, January 17

 

The student will complete the Beginning of the Year Assessment on PearsonSuccessNet.

The student will begin reading Marion Anderson, Famous Concert Singer by Langston Hughes and Tepeyac by Sandra Cisneros.

        

Enrichment Activities will include researching other Americans, like Maya Angelou, who help to bring about necessary social, cultural, and economic change.  

Remediation Activities will include completing the Reading Skill Graphic Organizer A and/or the Literary Analysis Graphic Organizer A to reinforce the reading and literary skills. This activity can be completed using cooperative learning groups.
