  • Welcome Back Students!
  • The teacher will review all classroom rules and procedures, the school dress code and other important rules from the WCHS Handbook.
  • The teacher will introduce “The Monkey’s Paw” using Pearson Successnet.com and Literature books.
  • The student will complete activities associated with the story including the Anticipation Guide and Vocabulary/Reading Warm Up sheets.
  • The teacher will introduce a lesson from the MS Test Prep Workbook and questions from Practice Test 3 from the MDE website in preparation for the Subject Area Test.

Wednesday, January 8, 2014

  • The student will read the short story and complete a Free Response as they read.
  • The teacher will continue modeling and instructing students on Foreshadowing, Plot , and Making Inferences through the story “The Monkey’s Paw”  using the Critical Thinking Questions in the textbook.
  • The teacher will introduce a lesson from the Mississippi Test Prep workbook and questions from Practice Test 3 from the MDE website in preparation for the Subject Area Test.

  • The teacher will continue modeling and instructing students on Foreshadowing, Plot, and Making Inferences through the story “The Monkey’s Paw.”
  • The student will complete selected pages in their All In One Workbooks and complete the Open Book Test to prepare for the Weekly Test.
  • The teacher will introduce a lesson from the Mississippi Test Prep workbook and questions from Practice Test 3 from the MDE website in preparation for the Subject Area Test.

  • The student will complete the Selection Test on “The Monkey’s Paw.”
  • The teacher will introduce alesson from the Mississippi Test Prep workbook and questions from Practice Test 3 from the MDE website in preparation for the Subject Area Test.

Enrichment Activities will include creating an illustration of the exposition of the story “The Monkey’s Paw,” page 33 in Literature textbook, and creating a short essay answering the following question: Why aren’t the stories mentioned in the text about getting wishes without consequences?

Remediation Activities will include completing the Literary Analysis Graphic Organizer A to reinforce plot structures. This activity can be completed using cooperative learning groups.
