Students will continue using geometric formulas to solve problems

 

Introduction of Lesson

 

Class will use notes and formulas from Friday to solve problems using geometric formulas.

Eagle Challenge

(3-5 minutes)

 

Multiplication and division with integers

Learning Tasks/Activities

Student will use formulas from Fridays lesson to solve Circumference and area for a circle.

Closure

Class will check answers to worksheet problems and review formulas for any missed problems.

Tuesday

Volume of Geometric Solids

Focus of Lesson

 (Student-Friendly Objective)

 The goal for this lesson is for the student to demonstrate application of volume for common geometric solids.

Introduction of Lesson

Have you ever wondered how much water is needed to fill a swimming pool, your bathtub or how much tea is in your tea glass. Using the geometric formula for volume you can easily find the answers to these questions.

Eagle Challenge

(3-5 minutes)

 

Find the area and perimeter of 4 problems on the board.

Learning Tasks/Activities

Discuss and write in algebra notebooks the formula for finding volume of geometric solids (rectangular prism, cube, cylinder)

Write and solve examples of volume of rectangular prisms, cubes, and cylinders in algebra notebook.

Closure

Student will find the volume of rectangular prisms, cubes and cylinders.

Students work together to determine the amount of water needed  to fill the classroom.

Wednesday

The goal for this lesson is for the student to demonstrate application of volume for common geometric solids.

Find the volume of a rectangular prism and a cube dimensions given on the board.

Student will find the volume geometric solids on a worksheet.

Closure

Worksheets will be checked and students allowed to correct mistakes.

Worksheets will be graded.
