War Eagle Marching Band Classic WCHS Band

The Wayne County High School marching band will host 15 bands at the War Eagle Marching Band Classic Competition Saturday, October 21, at War Eagle Stadium. The classic prepares the marching bands for state competition. The bands will be judged and evaluated, with WCHS not being part of the evaluations. Wayne County will perform at 7:45 p.m. in a special performance.

War Eagle Football Tickets War Eagle Football

Wayne County War Eagle football season tickets will go on sale Thursday, August 3. Tickets can be purchased at the high school from 8 a.m. - 3 p.m. Season tickets are $60 for the six games with a parking pass available for additional cost of $25. Timber Bowl tickets to both the Wayne Academy and Wayne County games are included in the season ticket package.

The War Eagles will have some of the best football teams in Mississippi coming to War Eagle Stadium as West Jones (Aug. 18), Jefferson Davis County (Sept. 1), Picayune (Sept. 22), Hattiesburg (Oct. 13, and West Harrison (Oct. 27) visit War Eagle Stadium. All games will begin at 7 p.m. except for the Timber Bowl on August 18. Wayne County will play West Jones at 8 p.m. after the Wayne Academy-South Choctaw contest that begins at 6 p.m.

Clara School sixth grade students co-authored and illustrated Thankful Americans. This book was an opportunity for students to share their feelings about how thankful they are to live in America.  The pictures illustrated their thoughts about freedom, family, Christ and education.

All students that scored ADVANCED on MAP last May were taken to Hattiesburg as a reward for their hard work. The students enjoyed a good time at the UpDown trampoline park where they jumped and jumped. Then they went to lunch at the Food Court in the mall. We are very proud of these students and know they put forth their best effort when taking the test. The students that scored Proficient on MAP will be rewarded next. Students at Clara School are rewarded for hard work.

Ms. Lanette Crocker, the MSU Extension Coordinator for Wayne County, read to Mrs. Michelle Boyles' kindergarten class in honor of Dr. Seuss's Birthday.  The students were excited to celebrate by reading.

Governor Bryant Awards Two Students for DAR Essays 1st Place

DAR2Two Clara students were presented awards by Governor Phil Bryant for DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution) essays. Noah Hillman won 1st place and Kyle Carney won 3rd place statewide for their essays. Congratulations to these two young men.
